The Manager of Creditor Underwriting will lead and direct creditor new business, underwriting and policy change department. Define develop and implement creditor underwriting road map/strategy. Adapt underwriting to meet the changing environment. E.

Regulatory, digital and non-invasive underwriting.

Accountable for the development, implementation and monitoring of all functions involved in the end-to-end lifecycle of creditor new business, underwriting and policy change processes.


How you will create impact:


  • Leading and engaging the Creditor Underwriting team to deliver on business objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying, and developing emerging talent, and fostering innovation and collaboration.
  • Providing oversight, leadership and guidance in the maintenance and evolution of underwriting processes to mitigate fraud and possible risks while ensuring the integrity of endtoend activities in the creditor insurance products lifecycle.
  • Translating the strategy into achievable goals and implementing according to plan, including best practices for medical underwriting, and reflecting innovative underwriting changes.
  • Ensuring appropriate underwriting guidelines, policies, procedures and requirements are in place including industry and regulator changes and making recommendations or modification as necessary.
  • Monitoring, analyzing and responding to trends that impact underwriting and making the required adjustments
(ex:

digital, epigenetics and predictive analytics)

  • Researching, understanding, interpreting and ensuring the implementation/adherence of all regulatory guidelines and legislations in the business unit. (ex Genetics bill, Privacy legislation, Fair treatment of consumer guidelines, Canadian Life and Health Insurance Associate guidelines (CLHIA))

To join our team:


  • You have 8 years of experience in the life or creditor insurance industry comprising of 5 years of underwriting and 3 years of management experience.
  • You have a university education in a related field.
  • You have completed or are working towards Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU), Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) or Associate, Customer Service (ACS)
  • You have completed a medical terminology course.
  • You have a good understanding of risk assessment, reinsurance, budgeting and data analysis.
