Wage Range:
$23.99 up to $27.54 based on education and related experience.

We provide housing and support to those who are facing homelessness/at risk of homelessness and support those who may use substances, mental health challenges, harm reduction, health education and ultimately provide the skills to re-enter the workforce.

Position Summary:


As the Housing and Front Desk Worker, you are the first point of contact for community members and Program Participants seeking housing, health and street outreach services with a hope of reducing homelessness and improving health.

Within this role you would work in conjunction with the Housing Outreach, Street Outreach and Health Navigation Teams and assist Program Participants with multiple barriers and challenging?behaviours?to access appropriate supports within community.

? Service delivery is based on a client centered, trauma informed and non-judgmental perspective.


Typical Duties Include:


  • Offer friendly, compassionate, and accurate information to community members and Program Participants.
  • Communicate with community members and Program Participants through a variety of channels.
  • Receive inhouse requests for assistance, access and analyze the need, make appropriate referrals to staff and community resources.?
  • Identify and develop a customized support system for each client including brokering 'active' referrals to essential housing services/programs.
  • Provide general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, answering phones and providing correspondence with community?resources.?
  • Work closely with community resources.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as required.
  • Ensure there are updated copies on hand of office forms, brochures, intake forms, rental agreement forms, case notes, intent to rent forms, bus schedules, etc.
  • Distribution of harm reduction supplies to Program Participants and community members when requested.
  • Daily cleaning/sanitizing of front office area and kitchen (i.e., empty, fill and run dishwasher when required, wipe down counters, clean microwave, etc.).
  • Encourage and support Program Participants to live as fully and independently as possible within the local community, providing information, and practical support.
  • Help Program Participants with access to washroom facilities.
  • Contribute to the protection of Program Participants from abuse, and support Participants when they are in distress.
  • When necessary, be trained to be the first to respond to an overdose situation with onthespot overdose response and support and prepared to work calmly and together with your team, paramedics, and police in crisis situations.
  • Monitor and move along community members who are loitering in and around the property.
  • Assist team to maintain complete documentation, verbal and written reports, statistics, and records in files and on ShareVision database.
  • Maintain files and documentation to the COA Standard and when requested, be a member of the COA's Performance and Quality Improvement team in which you will encourage the organization to use data to identify areas of needed improvement and implement improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all Society supportive standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete Front Desk specific responsibilities appendix A.

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Postsecondary Diploma or Certificate in Office Administration an asset.
  • Human Services Diploma, Support Worker/Care Aid Certificate an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, which includes Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication, writ
