About the role
We're looking for a Claims Consultant to join our growing team

The
National
Casualty Claims Consultant - Large Loss provides expertise in the casualty claims line of business.

The National Casualty Claims Team adjusts and administers Intact's largest and most complex casualty claims through technical excellence and plays a key role in the development of key technical talent.

The incumbent will have an opportunity to play a significant role in the support of casualty claims through large loss handling, mentoring, advice to management, quality assurance activities, providing assistance in the training of claims professionals and other special projects.


This opportunity can be based in any of the following locations:

Ontario:
Toronto (700 University Ave.)/Ajax/Mississauga/Richmond Hill/Ottawa/London


West:
Calgary AB/Edmonton AB


Atlantic:
Dartmouth NS, Moncton NB, St John's NL


What you'll do here:


  • Direct handle and mentor on large, complex claims files nationally, including technical guidance and advice to staff, assessment of exposure and assists with the interpretation of case law.
  • Act as a technical resource for all stakeholders including senior management, underwriting and finance
  • Represent company at mediation, arbitration, trial and other litigation processes
  • Engages in special projects to examine the Claims function and develop ways to improve both processes and personnel to better serve customers, solve systemic problems and meet company goals.
  • Participates in the development of technical casualty claims training programs by assessing needs, developing content and making recommendations.

What you bring to the table:

  • University degree or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role
  • CIP Designation preferred
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience with Casualty Claims
  • Proven technical expert in casualty claims. Extensive experience in coverage analysis, investigation, and quantum evaluation. Experience in class action claims, severe losses an asset.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexible with the ability to work in a constantly changing environment
  • There will be some travel involved in this position
