What can I expect to do in this role?: As a Network Security Analyst, you will have a unique opportunity to contribute in the delivery of the top digital government priorities that have a high impact on the delivery of public safety communications throughout the province.


You will:

  • Specify, negotiate and review security posture of services that conform to industry and OPS I&IT standards.
  • Work with mobile network carriers and stakeholders to design and develop a network that meets enterprise requirements.
  • Evaluate, identity and produce detailed reports related to cyber security. Recommend architecture and process improvements.
  • Provide innovative ideas and solutions using negotiation skills to gain support while promoting the value of telecommunication architecture and design principles.
  • Develop and maintain business networks with internal/external stakeholders and manage providers of telecommunication services

How do I qualify?:


Information Technology Knowledge and Skills:


  • Knowledge of cyber security technologies, processes, and practices as well as cyber threat risk assessment (TRA), Privacy impacts (PIA) intelligence concepts, protocols and principles
  • Knowledge of solution delivery methodologies, process/techniques to provide Security guidance.
  • Technical knowledge and expertise in Mobile technologies including Radio Access Networks, Backhaul technologies, Core networks and network management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Data Centre Network, Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, wireless services, Contact Centre Services, videoconferencing, audio conferencing and UCC architecture.
  • Ability to analyze, define, evaluate and recommend on telecommunications security architecture requirements, considering all domains for multiministry/large scale/enterprisewide systems.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:


  • Consults with internal/external stakeholders to provide advice in defining systems architecture requirements and identifying solutions and deliverables suited to client needs; provides expert advice and technical expertise and makes presentations to project management teams.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior I&IT architects and project stakeholders to promote and market I&IT architecture; consults with vendors, consultants and peers in the IT community and in other jurisdictions to address systems issues and developments.
  • Written and oral communication skills to present IT strategies and solutions.

Problem Solving, Analytical and Other Relevant Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to conduct security audits, vulnerability assessments, threat/risk assessments, and business impact analyses
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills to resolve highly technical issues with critical impact on the functioning of the Ontario Public Service
  • Knowledge of legislation, directives and policies related to the protection of privacy
  • Ability to provide input in architectural solutions to meet complex, multiyear plans, spanning multiple internal/external stakeholders and broadly defined business objectives.
