Reporting to the Manager, or designate, and working as part of a collaborative management team, the Supervisor, Social Assistance position is responsible for leading the case management services in a 24/7 shelter environment or leading a allied service program within the Homelessness Initiatives and Prevention Services Unit, in a client focused manner, and directing all administrative program operations.
As a Supervisor, Social Assistance, you'll provide day-to-day supervision to assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, customer service excellence, and continuous learning, while encouraging innovation, evaluating performance and leading staff development through motivation and training.
Working collaboratively with other supervisory staff, you'll lead the coordinated Housing First case management services for individuals and families to assist them in achieving housing stability in the community, ensuring clients receive appropriate counselling, support or referrals, and mediating on their behalf with other service providers.
We will also count on you to gather and maintain statistical data and other information on programs for reports, forecast needs and monitor policy and program activities, recommend options and implement changes to improve operational performance and service delivery.
Managing labour relations will be an integral part of this role, including hearing grievances, along with monitoring program operations, and providing leadership in service planning and program policy development that incorporates identified needs with input from clients and community agencies.
Overall, you will be responsible to ensure all services are provided in accordance with Divisional and Unit policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
You will work closely with all components of the program design, delivery, and administration with a specific focus on ensuring that client-facing elements of the program are delivered with a harm reduction, housing first, culturally relevant, and eviction prevention lens.
Key Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in Social Services, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Considerable experience supervising staff (e.g. leading, motivating, monitoring and evaluating performance), in a complex and highvolume work environment.
- Considerable experience in planning, developing and implementing programs that address operational and client needs.
Ability to be flexible and travel, and may be required to work in different locations including working on evenings and weekends, as required
