- Examine patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures
- Administer budget
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments
- Perform and assist in routine surgery
- Inoculate and vaccinate patients to prevent and treat diseases
- Participate in health care policy and planning
- Advise patients on health care
- Hire and train staff
- Communicate health promotion, disease, illnes and accident prevention to patients
- Co-ordinate or manage primary patient care
- Provide counselling and support to patients and their families on a wide range of health and lifestyle issues

- College of Family Physicians Certification (CCFP)
- Participates in a government or community program or initiative that supports persons with disabilities
- Offers mentorship, coaching and/or networking opportunities for persons with disabilities
- Provides awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for persons with disabilities
- Applies accessible and inclusive recruitment policies that accommodate persons with disabilities
- Recruits newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster (for example: Ukraine, Afghanistan, etc.)
- Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition
