Job Objectives/Initiatives:


  • Responsible for the development, implementation, training, and maintenance of facility Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures to reduce team member injury, minimize company exposure and ensure compliance with corporate Environmental, Health & Safety management system and all applicable Environmental, Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with all environmental permits, regulations, and reporting requirements for primary facilities.
  • Ensures alignment on programs involving team member engagement and behaviorbased safety processes to drive a Zero & Beyond culture.
  • Leads and maintains certification of ISO 14001 at primary sites.
  • Builds competent EHS Committees at facility sites through communicating corporate procedures, coaching, training, and follow up on issues related to EHS.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate reporting of all Corporate EHS metrics and data requests.
  • Proactively provides handson support in areas such as: Health, Safety and Environmental Procedure implementation (Corporate and site specific), behavioral safety processes, corporate safety mandates, and interpretation of applicable regulatory regulations.
  • Drives an incident reporting process that ensures effective investigation, reporting, corrective actions, and best practice sharing throughout their business unit and corporate.
  • Conducts and assists with internal and external EHS audits and meets with regulatory agencies during facility inspections/audits as required.
  • Acts as a support resource in the development and review of facility specific EHS training needs analysis, operational reviews and new equipment assessments.
  • Partners with Facility leadership to participate in key EHS team meetings, Kaizen/Gemba events, and other key meetings where EHS representation is requested.
  • Participates in other key EHS initiatives as assigned by the Director of EHS.

Qualifications:


Education

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and/or environmental studies, engineering, or other related field.

Experience

  • 5 plus years of direct EHS experience including government compliance, behaviorbased safety, process hazard and risk analysis, root cause evaluation, incident management, standards and procedural development, auditing, and training.
  • Proficient in both French and English.
  • Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. health and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 Management Systems.
  • Experience in multisite leadership a plus.
  • Knowledge of worker's compensation regulations.
  • Strong organizational & planning skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills & problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written), able to interact with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
