Reporting to the Supervisor, Spatial Data, this position is responsible for assisting in the Port's Spatial Data and Asset Management Groups as directed.

This includes updating AutoCAD and GIS datasets and conducting other related work and research in support of our Asset Management program at Vancouver Fraser Port Authority.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist the Spatial Data and Asset Management Groups and with various AutoCAD and GIS oriented tasks, including creating and editing plans, updating source data with new information, and improving data quality.
  • Enter record drawings and other plans into the EDDI database to make them easy to find for future use.
  • Research and assign relevant asbuilt records/diagrams/drawings to infrastructure assets including buildings, overpasses, dock structures, etc.
  • Research engineering records/diagrams/drawings and complete the missing infrastructure attributes on infrastructure asset data sheets.
  • Potentially assist the Construction Project Coordinator team with site visits and other minor tasks.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must be a full-time student enrolled in a post-secondary institution with 4-6 months related experience. Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office software packages. Experience with AutoCAD and Esri ArcGIS software would be an asset.


Vancouver Fraser Port Authority student positions are available to individuals who are soon to enter the workforce on a permanent basis and are designed to provide gainful experience.


SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:


Must exhibit a strong orientation towards customer service and be highly motivated to work both independently and in a team environment.

Must possess a good command of the English language together with the ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with all contacts and demonstrate good judgment and interpersonal skills.

TERM & HOURS:


  • 8month work term: May December 202 Regular daytime working hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

RATE OF PAY:
$21.74
