St. Mary's Gardens is currently seeking a part-time Personal Support Worker to join our team.

Resident Services Staff will provide comfortable retirement living services that cater to the physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of all clients who wish to regain or maintain an independent lifestyle.

We deliver our mission by adhering to ORCA & RHA standards.

Through these standards, we focused on continuous quality improvement, infection prevention and control, maintain best practices in health and safety and the ongoing training of all staff.

Resident Services Staff work to achieve the following:_

• To provide residents, tenants, visitors, volunteers and employees with a warm and welcoming environment.
• To facilitate the procurement of community support services and facilitate, guide and support the transition of our Residents who are experiencing an increase in their care needs.
• To employ infection prevention and control measures while performing all cleaning duties.
• To identify safety hazards within the physical environment and immediately report these to the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
• To adhere to all safety measures and precautions for the protection and comfort of the residents, family members, employees and volunteers.

Qualifications:

• PSW Certificate or equivalent work experience.
• Recent experience working as a PSW.
• Previous experience working as a PSW in a retirement community is an asset.
• Experience in geriatrics or gerontology is an asset.
• An understanding of the needs and issues of the older adult is required.
• Current certification in CPR and First Aid is required.
• Availability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends is required.
• Experience in medication administration an asset.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
• Willingness to update and keep current their knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures is a requirement.
• Good attendance record is required.
• Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required (dated within 6 months of start of employment).
• Negative 2 Step TB test is required.
• N95 Mask Fit Test dated to within 2 years
• Our policy on Covid19 Vaccination is currently placed on abeyance. This means that the Policy on Covid19 Vaccination is paused at this time; however, it is not cancelled and could be reinstated at a future date if public health conditions warrant it, or through guidance from federal, provincial, or local public health authorities. The evolution of the virus and the course of the disease activity are difficult to predict and it may be necessary to reinstate the Policy in full or in part, on short notice._
