  • Cancer Imaging Program
  • The Cancer Imaging Program manages quality initiatives and operations in multiple areas of patient care often in emerging and rapidly evolving areas of imaging and treatments.
In addition to targeted quality initiatives in cancer imaging, the scope of the Cancer Imaging Program includes independent program areas for:

interventional oncology procedures, used for mínimally-invasive focal tumour ablation treatment(s) and for oncology-related spinal augmentation; the neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) program, including specialized radionuclide treatments and companion diagnostics; management of radiology quality assurance for the Ontario Lung Screening Program; and, oversight for all aspects of provincial PET scanning, with a mandate to support patient access and the evidence-based introduction of new indications for all ages and diseases (ie, not limited to oncology), evidence-building through real-world evaluation as required, operations of a case-by-case review program (PET Access Program*), quality oversight, and system-level planning.


  • Although related by the use of imaging and related technologies, each of these program areas address different elements of patient care, with independent operational needs (e.g., contracts, performance management), issues and pressures, and advisory groups and stakeholders; i.e., they function as independent programs under the umbrella of the Cancer Imaging Program.
  • Lead, Cancer Imaging
  • Reporting to the Group Manager, Cancer Imaging, the Lead, Cancer Imaging:
  • provides senior level support for the Group Manager in ensuring program objectives and operational responsibilities are met;
- leads complex initiatives and engagement across multiple areas within the Cancer Imaging portfolio, working collaboratively with the Team Lead, Cancer Imaging and Group Manager to ensure all program areas have strong Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) leads supporting the Group Manager in issues management and communications (i.e., can act as a delegate/effectively provide coverage or independent support)

  • The Lead, Cancer Imaging role requires strong project management skills and organization, with experience leading clinicallyrelevant initiatives. The Lead, Cancer Imaging will have the ability to understand and connect relevant areas of evidence and practice, policy, and operations, and have experience with indicators and performance management. The individual will be able to work independently with both internal (across Ontario Health programs/portfolios), and external (clinicians of various specialties, Ministry staff, hospital and/or cancer program administration (e.g. Manager/Director level), etc) stakeholders.
  • Here is what you will be doing:
  • Support the Group Manager, Cancer Imaging in day to day operations across Cancer Imaging Program workstreams, working with Cancer Imaging Program team members and providing support to ensure project and operational milestones are met-
  • Support the Group Manager, Cancer Imaging in overseeing corporate reporting and accountability, including development and performance against the Cancer Imaging Program Operating Plan, Ontario Health corporate reporting (e.g., Cancer Dashboard), Ministry reporting (financials and program deliverables), and Annual Business Planning processes.-
  • Contribute to strategic planning for Cancer Imaging Program program areas and ensure alignment of initiatives with Cancer Imaging Program and Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) strategic plans; identify opportunities to advance and/or connect initiatives where relevantLead initiatives across the scope of the Cancer Imaging Program to advance patient care related to imaging and/or image-guided or related therapies, from identification of emerging evidence and changes of practice to implementation including policy development into clinical ope
