Assistant Facilities Manager (12-month Contract)

In this vital role you will manage and provide oversight for Integrated Service Provider portfolio within the Global Facilities Operations (GFO) organization and will report to the Engineering and Operations Lead Canada, Global Facilities Operations.

The position will provide laboratory Operations support with a primary focus on our lab consumables and laboratory services programs.

The position will be the primary contact for research shipments (non commercial) partnering with our global trade group, customs brokers, and shipping vendors.

This position will interact with all levels of the Engineering and Research and Development organization


In addition, they will:

  • Monitor and manage transportation logistics for all shipments going in and out of the site
  • Supports clients as a dedicated customer advocate and single point of accountability for shipping/ transportation services
  • Coordinate with scientists and our Global Trade Office group to ensure proper clearance and delivery of critical RD samples
  • Partner with Amgen BC researchers and global trade organization to streamline the shipping process for critical research samples shipped to and from the site
  • Owner of transportation PO's and carrier contracts
  • Primary transportation coordinator for critical shipments
  • Primary transportation invoice reviewer
  • Support innovation in operational support for researchers at the ABC site to meet the changing business needs of researchers
  • Provide back up support for facilities lead at the Amgen British Columbia site
  • Collaborate daily with service supplier
  • Monitor and manage service level agreements and specific metrics and measures
  • Provide planned updates to Engineering and R&D management on process performance and customer satisfaction measures
  • Develops and oversees the site Lab Consumable and Support Services (LCSS) program in conjunction with LCSS service provider.
  • Finds opportunities and alignments across the site and the GFO portfolio related to the LCSS program.
  • Supports clients as a dedicated customer advocate and single point of accountability & contact for engineering services provided by GFO. Frequently interacts with clients' senior management and/or functional peer group managers.
  • Meets regularly with clients and translates client needs and initiatives into GFO and/or Engineering objectives, programs, and projects.
  • Demonstrates commitment to Safety and Compliance and holds Integrated Service Providers (ISP) accountable for Safety and Compliance
  • Ensures Integrated Service Providers (ISP) deliver on scope of work and monitors service level agreements to ensure compliance. Provides consistent approach and critical issue path for managing Integrated Service Providers.
  • Assists in developing benchmarking for facilities operational parameters, monitoring employee satisfaction with work environment, spaceutilization, and risk management issues.
  • Assists in developing, monitoring, and justifying the departments' budgets.
  • Assists with all changes in scope and CCR's for service providers
  • Provides site representation of all GFO activities for LCSS at all Governance meetings
  • Assists with all operational excellence and innovation projects across all programs

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree


OR:

Bachelor's degree & 3 years of directly related experience


OR:

Associate degree & 6 years of directly related experience


OR:

High school diploma / GED & 8 years of directly related experience


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with lab systems and knowledge of requirements as they relate to the lab environment
  • Experience in vendor management and handling outsourced service providers
  • Experience transportation logistics, shipping and receiving operations
  • TDG/DOT/IATA certification is an asset
  • Experience with Emergency Response and Business Continuity Programs
  • Ability to build working relationships and effectively partner crossfunctionally, crossregionally and at all levels in the organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, organizational and planning skills
