This is what else you can expect from this dynamic role:

  • Provides support and guidance to members and staff in a manner that is consistent with member values, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Resolves all member issues in an expedient and satisfactory manner; or escalates as appropriate.
  • Negotiates, leads contract administration, supports Bargaining Units and Locals in trusteeship and administration.
  • Provides assistance when there are issues of capacity/workload and provides guidance where Bargaining Units have complex labour relations issues in a healthcare environment.
  • Consults with the Litigation and Negotiations Teams in preparation and presentation for arbitrations and mediation.
  • In consultation with our Professional Practice Specialists when required, ensures members receive timely guidance concerning professional practice issues.
  • Consults with the appropriate specialist(s) on the Provincial Service Team to ensure members' rights are defended.
  • Provides written reports to Management on areas of activity, as required.
  • Facilitates staff contract administration orientation and leads assigned contract administration (rights) mediation efforts within assigned Regions.
  • Supports onboarding, training, and mentorship of Regional Labour Relations Officers in coordination with the Regional Manager, Labour Relations.

What we are looking for

  • University degree, diploma or certificate in Industrial/Labour Relations.
  • A Registered Nurse (RN) is an asset.
  • A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years' experience in labour relations leading both negotiations and contract administration.
  • Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution and/or Advanced Mediation and Workplace Conflict Coaching Certification and/or training is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the procedures, practices and techniques used in collective bargaining and labour management negotiations.
  • Full understanding and demonstrated working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. _Employment Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code_ etc.).
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, mentorship and coaching.
  • Demonstrated advocacy and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills within a fastpaced environment.
  • Ability to speak other languages and/or French bilingual is considered an asset.
