Reporting to the Director of Principal Gifts and the Director of University Development, the Development Coordinator (Coordinator) is an essential member of the Development team, providing program implementation and coordination to the Principal Gift (PRIN) and Corporate & Foundation Relations (CFR) development programs and building relationships both internally and externally for UVic.

The Coordinator will be responsible for fulfilling activities and duties that support the university's major gift fundraising efforts.

The incumbent will conduct initial prospect research, support the planning of cultivation and solicitation strategies, support donor relations and stewardship activities, assist with fundraising projects, draft communications and correspondence, collaborate on alumni relations activities as required and support data management and the maintenance of digital records.


This role will be required to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative while being in a dynamic team environment where flexibility and multi-tasking is essential.


About the programs:

This Coordinator role will support work of the Director of Principals Gifts and Director of University Development equally.


Principal Gifts

The Principal Gifts team plays a strategic role in shaping UVic's engagement with individual donors and prospective donors to inspire $1M+ gifts.

Activity creates meaningful and bespoke opportunities for engagement and advances University-wide fundraising priorities.

The team works in close collaboration with senior executive, academic and development leaders, and fundraisers in all UVic faculties and units.


Corporate & Foundation Relations

CFR is
responsible for key corporate and foundation prospects with significant capacity, pan-university interests, complex funding streams and/or stakeholder relations.

CFR collaborates closely with Principal Gifts, Faculty Development and senior executive, academic and development leaders

Alumni Relations and Development is the division of the university responsible for creating strong relationships and building philanthropic commitment between the University of Victoria and its alumni and friends.

UVic offers a combination of dynamic learning, vital impact and an extraordinary academic environment that can't be found anywhere else.


The university's Development team has been growing steadily, raising over $25 million annually, and is in the planning stage of a comprehensive campaign.


About the position:

The Development Coordinator will have responsibility for projects designed to cultivate major gifts, such as:

  • Participating in on-going fundraising planning, practice, and process development
  • Supporting the Development Directors (PRIN/CFR) with moves management processes
  • Drafting and editing donor/prospect correspondence and solicitation materials
  • Coordinating and providing support for and participating in donor cultivation and stewardship events, and donor/prospect visits, on and off campus
  • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding and expert use of the University's donor and alumni database
  • Drafting donor communications such as thank you letters and personal impact reports

The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range:
$61,154- $67,421
starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agree
