About You / What We Are Looking For


Are you ready to take on a dynamic role in a high-performing team that shapes the future of our community? We are seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our Parks, Recreation, Culture and Facilities department as a Coordinator, Plans and Policies.

As a crucial member of our team, you will play a key role in developing strategies, plans, policies, and community partnerships that contribute to the overall well-being of our City and its residents.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to departmental plans and services.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in developing and implementing new plans, strategies, and policies.
  • Lead project teams and interact with diverse partners to integrate plans and services across departments and agencies.
  • Support efforts to foster community partnerships and engagement.
  • Exercise considerable independent judgment and action in contributing to overall strategies and plans.
Qualifications

  • University graduation in a related discipline and relevant experience, preferably in a municipal recreation or strategic planning environment.
  • Strong understanding of research and analysis principles, practices, procedures, methods, and techniques.
  • Experience in developing detailed plans and policies.
  • Familiarity with administering community grant programs and working with arts, culture, and heritage programs is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the City's longrange plans and objectives.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze data, and prepare and present reports with recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a coordinating capacity within the department, crossdepartmentally, and with external organizations, resident groups, and businesses.
  • Ability to organize and lead workshops and public meetings.

Requirements:

  • A Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia (with satisfactory record) is required.
  • Applicants under consideration will be required to undergo a police information check (with no adverse reports).
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend shifts to attend meetings or engagement sessions.

What We Offer:
This CUPE position has an hourly rate of $ $ rates). The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.
