About the role

  • Reporting to the Clinical Director of Community Services, the Manager is responsible for the daily operation of our Counselling and Therapy and Community Intensive services and is a member of the management team. The Manager provides leadership and direction on clinical services, strategies, planning, design, implementation and service delivery across the service system. The Manager ensures that appropriate therapeutic intervention models are being utilized within the organizational clinical framework using a range of evidencebased/informed practices and is responsible for working closely with community partners.

  • The Manager is responsible for knowing and following the organization's Mission, Vision and Values statements as well as all other organizational and service policies and procedures. The Manager understands and demonstrates ethical behavior and business practices and ensures that their own behaviour and the behaviour of others is consistent with professional standards and aligns with the values of the organization.
  • Under the direction of the Clinical Director of Community Services, the Manager is responsible for providing service in the following areas:

CLINICAL MANAGEMENT- Ensures that service delivery complies with legislative and accreditation standards, including the Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA), CRPO and OCSWSSW. Client needs are typically complex and require high service levels which rely on building, maintaining and nurturing key stakeholder relationships within Child Welfare, Education and Hospital sectors in York Region. The role requires strong organizational and strategic skills as well as effective judgment, presentation, analytical, research and conflict management skills. Provides clinical leadership through maintaining knowledge of best practices and therapy models used to effectively meet the needs of clients. Provides supervision to support the skill development of Child and Family Therapists and Child and Youth Workers and ensures quality therapeutic experiences for families. Works closely with other clinical managers to ensure positive teamwork between staff, planning for shared clients, and coordinated services between programs. Aids the Clinical Director to address all requests for records, support letters, and verification of services. Responsible for implementing quality assurance and evaluation processes as well as monitoring the collection and recording of both clinical and service data that all data is submitted on a timely basis as per organizational standards.
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT- Hires, trains, develops and manages Child and Family Therapists and Child and Youth Workers. Supports the training of staff and ensures that all legislative and best practice requirements are met. Ensures that staff maintain and develop the competencies required for their role, implements performance improvement plans as needed. Provides leadership around staff engagement by supporting the well-being of staff through supervision, staff retention strategies, professional development, and practices that support work/life balance. Ensures that staff work in a safe manner in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures and all relevant legislation. Ensures that staff provide flexible, inclusive service with a diverse population and strive to ensure cultural sensitivity. Actively participates in all management activities as required. Conducts probationary and annual performance evaluations for staff and keeps job descriptions up to date.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT- Facilitates regular team meetings to discuss administrative and clinical issues that affect the team or clients, and which assist staff in problem solving and best practices. Works closely with related departments, staff and managers to ensure integration and good teamwork among multidisciplinary team members. Ensures that program assessment processes are followed to determine eligibility for counselling and intensive programs in a timely, client-focused and solution-focused way. Develops and maintains program procedures and guidelines and maintains the highest standards of practice in collaboration with senior management.
