Overview:


The position serves as a key ambassador between IIA Headquarters and chapter volunteer leaders, ensuring strategic alignment and creating and implementing chapter-based and North American membership retention and recruitment plans.

This individual will build strong relationships with our volunteer chapter leaders through ongoing communications, consultative guidance, training and mentoring, both virtually as well as in-person.

The ultimate objective is collaborative work across the association and in partnership with our chapters, to achieve of the global strategic plan and improve the overall member experience with The IIA.

This individual will reside in Canada.


Responsibilities:

Participate in creation of chapter strategies: As part of the Chapter Engagement team, collaborate on the development and execution of annual strategy and performance goals, assess the maturity of chapters and align support and services levels accordingly.

Build engagement with North American chapters: Develop regular cadence of communications with chapter leaders and with the Chapter Relations Committee to ensure alignment and support of our chapters. Contribute to the development and execution of effective messaging to volunteers. Ensure communications are effectively developed and disseminated through a variety of channels. Participate in District Workshops and chapter visits to provide leadership training, critical updates, and customized consultative guidance to our chapters located throughout the United States, Canada and Caribbean.

Support the unique needs of assigned North American chapters:Provide ongoing support to chapters in all areas such as: strategic planning; volunteer recruitment; membership recruitment, retention and engagement; certifications; advocacy; academic relations/student growth; and competency and learning.

Monitor and adjust: Monitor, measure and communicate chapter compliance with required chapter reports and agreements. Assess the health of each chapter and develop plans for sustainability and long-term viability. Address and share challenges and best practices. Ensure the programming needs of chapters are aligned with The IIA's overall learning objectives and support our chapters.

Share and improve: Meet with relevant business leaders to share ways to enhance service and the local member experience. Develop new methodologies and gather best practices related to chapter management and ensure distribution to all chapters. Lead key department initiatives with cross functional teams including membership, certifications, member competency/learning, advocacy, and academic relations.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a fouryear college or university required, preferably in communications, marketing, business or related fields and 23 years of experience in association management, marketing, customer service, recruiting and managing volunteers or related experience.
  • Frenchspeaking required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, proficiency crafting external communications and demonstrated relationship skills are required.
  • High level of initiative, curiosity and urgency to understand member needs and how to exceed them.
  • Association management or notforprofit experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience and proficiency in public speaking is favored.
  • Experience servicing as or working with district and local volunteers as well as an understanding of chapter operations is highly desirable.
  • Upon hiring, acquiring basic knowledge of internal audit principles and awareness of the changing demands on the profession will be expected.
