The role of the Arena Operator III is to provide service to arena guests and is responsible for maintaining recreation facilities as it relates to facility inspections and preparation, ice making and maintenance, ice resurfacing, and event support.

Responsibilities include mentorship and coaching to Arena Operator I and II's, implement training programs and provide staff schedule coordination support.

Arena Operator III's ensure facilities are clean & safe for guests & staff.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide the highest level of guest service to create a seamless, positive guest experience
  • Conduct daily activities in a leadership role, assisting peers with the completion of tasks and resolve operational issues
  • Interact and build relationships with guests and other staff through friendly and courteous interactions and provide options and solutions for guest requests
  • Maintain and prepare the arena surfaces and operate the ice resurfacer and other specialized arena maintenance equipment as outlined in safe work practices and procedures
  • Complete arena and ice/field surface and OH & S inspections in accordance with all OH & S processes and procedures and ensure any deficiencies are documented and communicated to the appropriate supervisor
  • Prepare and clean arena facilities for ice making, sport court install, and turf, where applicable
  • Model safe and effective arena operations practices, conduct staff training, coaching, and mentoring with Arena Operator I and II's
  • Complete shadow shifts with Operator I and II's during their training shifts. Provide detailed feedback and provide coaching to ensure arena operational practices are being carried out safely
  • Effectively play a leadership role for large, complex operational tasks such as arena surface removal and installation, and event setups and takedowns
  • Perform competency checks for arena operating tasks such as ice resurfacer, janitorial machines, and ice maintenance equipment
  • Work closely with the Arena Operations Supervisor to plan staff meetings, and deliver and present training programs

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of facility programs and activities, and daytoday facility operations
  • Strong supervisory abilities including demonstrated leadership skills to motivate, develop high
- performing teams and foster a sense of teamwork

  • Excellent customer services skills and the ability to positively interact with facility guests
- using strong conflict resolution skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot potential safety hazards, address guest concerns and requests that can include: icebooking issues, irregular flood requests, and operational breakdowns

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with 3 years related experience
  • Experience coaching, mentoring and working as part of a team
  • Postsecondary education is considered an asset
  • Arena Operator Level I and II Certifications are considered an asset

Conditions of Employment

  • Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's licence and submission of a 5year Driver's Abstract with less than 7 demerits
  • Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification
  • Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered _
