Position Description

  • Manage, evaluate, and assess information related to Mechanical and Electrical systems necessary to construct project on time in a safe manner, within budget, and to quality as specified by contract documents
  • Supports preconstruction activities to ensure consistency with project procurement model.
  • Provide constructability and value engineering reviews for all mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Provide input to Project Managers and Superintendents for schedule development with regards to durations and sequencing of work within overall project schedule framework.
  • Implement management process for mechanical and electrical RFI's, shop drawings and administration of mechanical/electrical project completion requirements.
  • Assist in development of overall project budget, evaluation of tender packages and pricing, forecasting and monitoring project cash flows.
  • Develop a detailed commissioning program, in collaboration with the MEP trades, which should include details of the MEP QA/QC process, Cx process, and an extensive documentation catalog to track equipment through all stages of the commissioning process.
  • Manage and report on the commissioning process, checking that the commissioning agent has developed a commissioning plan and all necessary test sheets and documentation.
  • Define roles and reporting structure within MEP team to ensure M&E deficiencies are addressed and closed.
  • Plan the mechanical and electrical components of a construction project and ensure applicable activities fit within the overall project framework
  • Chair project M&E meetings, determining the status of the job in terms of scheduling and costing and solve complex technical issues
  • Monitor a project's material and labour costs for mechanical and electrical components and assure accurate quality reporting is being conducted
  • Manage project commissioning team to provide a record of systems performance
  • Prepare and implement training programs to ensure successful transition from the construction team to facility management

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Specifically relating to mechanical and electrical systems:
  • Lead Turner project team, Subcontractors, Owner's consultants and representatives to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation.
  • Prepare and manage contract item's list for all components, materials, and systems to ensure RequiredonJob (ROJ) dates comply with project schedule with appropriate approval status.
  • Participate in schedule update meetings and provide latest information for informed and accurate schedule.
  • Evaluate and manage the processing of RFI's.
  • Manage budget including the review, evaluation, and negotiation of all change orders with understanding of the financial status of all subcontractors.
  • Supervise, coach and mentor Assistant MEP Coordinators.
  • Colead MEP Coordination Process with Virtual Design Construction Engineer to ensure overall installation complies with design requirements, operations and maintenance fundamentals, and quality standards.
  • Prepare scope of work documents with division of responsibility for trades and specific scopes of work for temporary operations.
  • Partner with the Superintendent to resolve conflicts between the mechanical and electrical systems with site logistics plan and in compliance with project schedule.
