Description

The Park Manager is a hands-on supervisory position responsible for the delivery of services and maintenance of facilities within specific parks in a region or bundle area.

The Park Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of these parks, delivering a safe, clean, and enjoyable camping and outdoor recreation experience to park visitors.


General Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all Operating Areas are safe, clean, and functional.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Operational Permit Area.
  • Ensure all workers receive training, instruction and safety orientations.
  • Supervise staff to ensure compliance with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Knowledgeable about regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the operations.
  • Ensure RLC Park Services' vehicles, equipment, and tools are wellmaintained in safe working order.
  • Represent RLC Park Services as a professional organization with a commitment to quality.
  • Communicate effectively with park visitors, staff, government representatives, emergency service providers, other authorities and agencies.
  • Other related duties as required to achieve operational requirements.

Managerial Duties

  • Work alongside park staff to ensure operational tasks are completed.
  • Hire, train, and supervise support staff, including Park Attendants, Park Patrol, and Collector/Gatehouse Attendants.
  • Schedule staff appropriately to ensure contractual obligations are being met and a high standard of service is being provided, while responsibly budgeting for payroll expenditures.
  • Ensure staff are familiar with the policies and procedures of RLC Park Services; the Health and Safety Manual, and it is available as required.
  • Ensure staff are familiar with emergency procedures and that emergency information is available at all pertinent locations.
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations and ensure corrective action is taken.
Collect, maintain, and submit to the appropriate department as required, all documents and records pertaining to the operations. Documents and records include those required for Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Statistical Information, Quality Control, and Health and Safety.


Facilities Maintenance

  • Conduct inspections of park facilities to determine the conditions requiring cleaning or operational repairs, and emerging failures or safety hazards.
  • Carryout operational maintenance of all facilities in the Operational Permit Area as directed by policies and procedures of RLC Park Services to ensure facilities are functional, safe, sanitary, inviting, and protected from premature deterioration.
  • Carryout operational repairs when facilities are damaged or deficient.
  • Maintain appropriate records pertaining to the operation, maintenance, and repairs of specified facilities.

Security and Patrol

  • Patrol the operating area to inform park visitors of park rules and regulations.
  • Generate compliance using the Public Relations Approach when dealing with contraventions to park regulations.
  • Escalate to higher authorities as required when unable to gain compliance.
  • Completing appropriate records and occurrence reports.

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent customer service to park visitors.
  • Follow Registration and Check-In procedures to ensure park visitors are provided with information that promotes an enjoyable camping experience.
  • Be familiar with and utilize the Reservation Service software.
  • Handle park visitor problems and complaints effectively.
  • Handles cash/credit transactions to process park fees and retail sales.
  • Balance and deposit end of shift cashout reports.

Recommended Experience/Qualifications

  • Education or training in an Outdoor Recreation Management program or related field (Natural Resource Management, Tourism and Hospitality, Business Administration, Recreation Planning, Facilities Management)
  • Related experience in Park Operations, Hotel and Accommodations, Facilities Maintenance, Visitor Services, Campground and RV Park Management, Landscaping.
  • Able to work irregular shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Experience in compliance and enforcement related to public safety or recreation management.
  • Experience hiring, training, and supervising staff.
  • Experience in cash handling and guest services.
  • Experience working with tools and power equipment (weedeater, leaf blower, chainsaw, etc.)
  • Valid BC Drivers License.
  • Wildlife/Danger Tree Assessment.
  • Basic administrative abilities including word processing and spreadsheet skills.
  • Able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Able to work alone and isolated locations.
Able to successfully complete security screening and Police Information Check.


Salary:
$26.00-$28.00 per hour
