About the Position


ONCAT is looking for a recent graduate or graduate student who is passionate about moving research into practice and building a culture of transfer best practices in the postsecondary education system.

This opportunity is an entry-level, short-term position that will support the Knowledge Mobilization Specialist and Communications Manager to implement our knowledge mobilization plan and activities.

The incumbent will work with our researchers and digest research to create evidence-based content for our various knowledge mobilization outputs, including learning events, presentations, research snapshots and spotlights, transfer resources, and other creative products.


Responsibilities

  • Liaise with and interview funded and internal researchers to support ONCAT's knowledge mobilization goals
  • Summarize and find creative ways to present research findings for communications purposes, including writing plain language summaries, developing infographics, presentations, etc. (Research Snapshots, Spotlights, webinars, and other learning events)
  • Draw out recommendations from research for practice and policy purposes
  • Develop communications content for social media, and our SharePoint sites on transfer and student mobility research
  • Post key messaging and communications (news posts, event invitations, uploading videos and resources, etc.) on our sector SharePoint site
  • Track research, sector, and policy publications for knowledge mobilization and communications outlets on a weekly basis (sector scans)

Essential Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, Humanities, or a Social Sciences discipline
  • Certificate in Knowledge Mobilization an asset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Solid understanding of rhetorical principles, including audience, purpose for writing, genre, etc.
  • Able to build relationships to gain trust, work collaboratively and create personcentred, engaging communications
  • Effective time management and project management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft platforms (MS Office and SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with digital communication practices and principles
  • Strong curiosity and desire to learn
  • Quantitative research literacy (statistical literacy) an asset
  • Working knowledge of Canva and other graphic design software an asset
  • Fluency in English and French preferred

Work model:
Hybrid - a minimum of 2 days in the office per week (downtown Toronto)
