The Toronto office of Footprint is seeking an experienced

Associate to support our energy modelling team. You are leader in energy conservation and sustainable design. You take initiative, are a hard worker, and you pride yourself on your friendly yet direct communication skills. What You'll Do:


  • Oversee assigned projects from conception to successful completion.
  • Represent Footprint at client meetings. Demonstrate effective leadership, client management and project management abilities.
  • Manage the delivery of energy modelling, LEED certification, and other sustainability certifications/measures related to new construction and existing building projects.
  • Lead technical discussions during the initial stages of complex projects (as required), in an effort to help establish the vision and objectives of the project.
  • Assign staff and provide technical guidance, supporting and mentoring project team members. Ensure adherence to quality standards and deliverables to clients.
  • Represent Footprint through the delivery of presentations to clients during industry conferences, project pursuits, and other internal and external events.
  • Provide written responses on behalf of the Footprint team for Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), and requests for Expressions of Interest (EOIs).
  • Develop and/or improve internal Footprint processes and procedures.
  • Analyze project profitability, revenue, and utilization.
  • Liaise with other disciplines, as required, while respecting the project status, major deadlines, and overall staffing requirements.
  • Establish and support the technical integrity of deliverables, scheduling, progress reporting, risk management, and client relation management.
  • Provide insight on project opportunities and outline potential risks and/or challenges.
  • As a leader of a member of the Smith + Andersen group of companies, provide holistic ownership of projects, remaining cognizant of the full discipline breadth and mindful of potential opportunities and/or challenges.
  • Lead and/or assist in human resources related activities, including staff recruitment, development, performance, and team member relations.

Who You Are:


  • Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, engineering or environmental science and/or related field.
  • Must have LEED AP designation or specialty designation.
  • Proficient knowledge of building energy modeling techniques, software programs municipal green standards and provincial building codes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; able to communicate with both internal and external clients.
  • Highly innovative with an attention to detail; quick learner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship management skills.
