Description

Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Manager, Medical Affairs will oversee all operational activities for the Chief of Staff (COS) office, including all aspects pertaining to Professional Staff (physicians, dentists, midwives) and Physician Assistants.

Additionally, management the Clinical Teaching Department as the primary Niagara Health liaison with the Niagara Regional Campus of the DeGroote School of Medicine.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and support the Medical Affairs team in the daily operational aspects pertaining to Professional Staff, including: recruitment, credentialing, performance management, engagement, wellness, leadership development,
continuing education, quality of care and medico-legal issues

  • Manage and support the Clinical Teaching team in the daily operational aspects pertaining to medical students and residents, including: onboarding, orientation, scheduling and communications
  • Collaborative management of Physician Assistants and ongoing program development
  • Supporting the COS in leading strategic initiatives related to Professional Staff
  • Engaging with other Niagara Health programs and initiatives as stakeholder representative for Professional Staff and medical learners
  • Establish key community partnerships in physician recruitment and primary care engagement
  • Financial oversight of department budgets and all physicianrelated funds
  • Drafting and ensuring compliance with contracts and service agreements
  • Creating and delivering presentations to committees of the Board
  • Attendance at Medical Advisory Committee and Credentials Committee

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor's degree preferably in a healthcare field.
  • Master's degree in healthcare management preferred.
  • Five years in a health leadership role required.
  • Experience with physician recruitment and retention an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and leading practice change initiatives including stakeholder engagement, project planning, change management, timelines, communication and status reports.
  • Evidence of leadership, mentorship and coaching of healthcare professionals and interdisciplinary teams to achieve excellence in professional practice.
  • Experience in managing budgets and funding requirements.
  • Experience interpreting and adhering to legislative requirements, bylaws, policies and legal contracts.
  • Experience in policy writing and review.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems, prioritize and multitask.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead others.
  • Evidence of continuous learning.
Consistent and regular attendance required.
