Background:
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment.
Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Unit, Information Systems (IS), the consultant will perform the following tasks:
- Collaborate with the Chief, IS, to develop a project plan, including timelines, budget, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement project management processes and tools to ensure successful project delivery.
- Conduct risk assessments and developing risk management plans.
- Provide guidance to the project team on project management best practices.
- Ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and to the required quality standard.
- Report regularly on project status, risks, and issues.
- Coordinating project activities and communication among project team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
- Ensure that project documentation is uptodate and accurate.
- Provide guidance and support for the implementation of the knowledge management system.
- Support the preparation of project report for the MLF ExCom.
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, data management, or related areas.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of five years of professional experience in data management, data architecture and analysis or related area is required.
Experience in developing technical documentation on data architecture and infrastructure is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this contract, fluency in written and oral English is required including excellent analytical and drafting skills. Working knowledge of at least one other UN official languages is desirable.
