The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre (Maples) is part of the Child and Youth Mental Health Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development.

The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach, and ancillary services to collaboratively support youth, families, and communities.

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre works with children and youth in British Columbia with enduing and severe mental health and behavioural difficulties, as well as youth found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or unfit to stand trial.


The Child and Youth with Complex Needs (CYCCN) program is part of the Maples and provides service to young people ages 7-18 with co-occurring persistent emotional, mental health, development and/or behavioural needs that cause a functional impairment in the home, school, or community and who require specialized, integrated service plans.

Services can be provided on-site in the Complex Care Unit (CCU) or through Provincial Outreach.


Under the direct clinical supervision of a CYCCN Shift Supervisor and Team Leader, and as appropriate, the Child Case Worker functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary on-site, care, stabilization, and intervention team.

In coordination with the CYCCN Outreach Clinician and/or the program Psychologist, and other agency and community professionals, provides a range of treatment services including:

behavioral stabilization and intervention (using Applied Behavioral Analysis) and provide as needed education to children, youth and families; liaison with community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other MCFD programs; involvement in transition from on-site stabilization program to community settings will provide community education, development and coordination for successful discharge and transition to community settings and other intervention programs.

Job Requirements:


Education:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Social Work or Child and Youth Care or a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology or a comparable Degree at the Bachelor's level or higher


NOTE:

If your degree was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES).

Confirmation for equivalency for your degree is required for you to be considered. Please indicate in your resume (include a copy of the approval; if in progress), proof must be provided on or by the closing date of the posting).-Experience must include the following:
  • Minimum of one (1) year recent experience (gained within the past 5 years) working in a clinical capacity in a school or hospital setting, ministry or resource setting or a contracted clinical service.
  • Minimum of six (6) months recent experience (gained within the past 5 years) in an onsite care setting.
  • Experience working with children, youth or developmentally delayed individuals. Experience working directly with youth who have challenging behaviours, including violence and aggression.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:


  • More than two (2) years recent (gained within the past 5 years) experience working in a clinical capacity in a school or hospital setting, ministry or resource setting or a contracted clinical service. Applicants who identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Willingness Statements:

  • Possess and continue to maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence

NOTE:

If you currently have a valid Driver's Licence in Canada, you must acquire a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence immediately.


  • Willing and able to perform shift work with unrestricted availability. Limited hours may be negotiated depending on operational requirements.
  • Work in close proximity to potentially aggressive, violent or otherwise unpredictable youth
