    Job Description

    Reporting to the Manager of Community Services or designate, the Facilities Coordinator provides cashiering services as needed and is responsible for effective, efficient, and safe bookings of events and programs in the City of Merritt Facilities. The incumbent tasks include cashiering services, booking maintenance staff for event set up and take downs, scheduling janitorial cleaning times, customer service, promotion of events, filing, preparing reports, and marketing through the sales and promotion of the facilities and their services. Independence of action and judgement are required in interpreting the needs of the internal and external customers.

    This position works 35 regular weekly hours Monday-Friday.

    Qualifications

    Required Knowledge – Education, Training & Experience

    • Experience in a municipal recreation environment.
    • Knowledge of event logistics.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and BookKing software.

    Required Skills & Abilities

    • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
    • Highly developed organizational and time management skills.
    • Superior judgement, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence with the ability to respond efficiently and appropriately to client requests.
    • Ability to self motivate and to function with a minimal direction and supervision.
    • Ability to work within and contribute to a proactive team environment.
    • Ability to prepare and organize written material.
    Additional Information

    This position is within the union bargaining unit with a pay rate of $26.11 per hour (2024 CUPE rate). This position will be posted until 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
