Description:

AMTS staff provide care and transportation for nonemergent patients during routine transport between medical facilities. They may be required to assist patients who are mobility challenged and require the use of walkers, wheelchair or are stretcher bound. They complete and submit required documentation including patient care reports.
Both PCP's and EMR's are responsible for the cleanliness of the motor vehicles, equipment and ambulance bays. They also maintain the stock of supplies and equipment available in the Ambulances and transport units.
Our PCP's and EMR's mainly transport admitted patients within the hospital setting to another health care facility for testing and or treatments. Sometimes the patients are returned to the place of origin or may be admitted at a different location within the Central Zone.
Shift Schedules will be a variety of:

4 on/4 off

12 hr BLS

Fri peak car 8.4 BLS
4on/3off 10.5 hr BLS

The AMTS employee plays an important role as members of the Associated Medical Transport Service interprofessional health care team. In the course of their work, they collaborate with other emergency medical personnel, physicians, nurses and other health professionals.
Our team at AMTS spend a lot of time standing, reaching, walking, crouching and bending during their shifts. They are required to lift and transport patients and equipment. At times, they may be in awkward positions while providing assessment and care to ill and injured people. They may be exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, needle sticks, moving traffic, weather conditions, and other potential safety risks while on the job.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited PCP/EMR program and active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP)

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Must hold a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's license with an abstract indicating no serious traffic safety violations abstract will be requested.
Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test taken no more than six months prior to the start date.
Must provide (VSC) Vulnerable Sector Check within last 3 months

Must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination
