Two openings exist for Weir Attendants at the Lake Cowichan Weir see Appendix #6 (Weir Attendant Letter of Understanding) in the codification of local agreements for the terms and conditions of this seasonal position.

This is a bargaining unit position, open to all PPWC members. The senior qualified applicant will be awarded the position. Hourly rate of pay will be per the PPWC Labour Agreement.

Duties include monitoring and recording lake and river levels along with the use of the spill gates to control lake level and river flow and operating the boat lock to sustain navigation of boaters moving between intake and river.


Qualifications include:

  • Safety Awareness
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Demonstrated ability working to an expected standard
  • Physical ability to complete the work
  • Capable of being a selfstarter
