    Role Responsibilities

    The Junior Engagement and Service Opportunities Specialist position reports directly to the Manager of Strategic Initiatives.

    The responsibilities for this role include:

    Research and development of frameworks to support transition of the delivery of digital services to the agile, multi-functional team methodology.

    • Contributing to research and development of recommendations to shape engagement, change management, and communication frameworks and initiatives (e.g., consolidate background materials; complete searches for information; draft templates and presentations).

    • Supporting the development and implementation of a process/mechanism for the continual improvement, evaluation, and updating of the frameworks and supporting tools due to changing user needs, expectations, and technology.

    • Developing and implementing common tools and resources to facilitate adoption and shift to new digital delivery models and tailor as needed to specific portfolio / ministry needs (e.g., templates, tracking databases, graphics and presentations).

    Engage partner ministries to increase awareness and implementation of new GoA digital redesign strategy and related approaches (e.g., Product Delivery Model, Agile delivery approaches, Human Centered Design).

    • Providing advice, coaching and education to partner ministries on Intake/Project Prioritization, Service Standards, Key Performance Indicators, etc. to support transition to new approaches and to improve the quality of project proposals, assessment, and decision-making (e.g., provide education or arrange to have the respective analysts come in to speak to each topic with ministries).

    • Coordinating facilitated discussions, information forums, and working groups to create an understanding of the interrelationships and interdependencies of products, priorities, and strategies as well as the impact of supportive and counter-productive activities.

    • Promoting awareness and understanding for the value of digital delivery and innovation (e.g., greater process agility creates valued programs and services to Albertans and gains in productivity and effectiveness).

    Facilitate pre-discovery activities alongside ministry partners to better understand and articulate the opportunities available to support ministries in service innovation.

    • Working with ministries to identify opportunities to improve/redesign and deliver high quality digital services following agile and human centered design best practices for smaller and straight-forward scenarios as skills and knowledge develop (e.g., communicate how any new opportunity proposals need to align to the digital strategy, playbook, and service standard).

    • Applying analytics and DataOps content to help ministries understand their current state and potential new opportunities.

    Guidance and Coordination of Opportunity Proposals and Prioritization.

    • Assisting Engagement and Opportunities Specialists and Senior Specialists in the guidance of project proposals through the intake/prioritization process and taking increasing role as skill and knowledge develop.

    • Creating supporting documentation required for opportunity assessment, prioritization, and decision-making.

    • Synthesizing data and generating reports related to the intake process for senior and executive leaders.

    Support the Unit to achieving branch goals and priorities.

    • Working closely with Engagement and Opportunities Specialists and Senior Specialists to support branch initiatives and to learn and develop professional capacity.

    • Providing background information/data to inform management of issues, opportunities, and challenges related to the unit.

    • Developing and preparing responses to action requests, preparing briefing notes.
