Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Completion of a Pharmacy Tech program. Pharmacy certification is required. 2 years' experience required. Must be able to multitask efficiently with good computer skills. Registered as a Pharmacy Tech in the state of Florida. Pharmacy Tech certification as required by the state is preferred .

Essential Functions

Assists pharmacists with prescription processing by entering necessary patient, prescription and insurance information into computer. Consults pharmacist on any matter where there is uncertainty or lack of knowledge.

Aids Pharmacy Clerk in performance of duties by helping check in orders, placing merchandise in proper location, assisting Clerk at counter as needed, and providing back-up coverage for Clerk.

Works with outside vendors to maintain inventory of items available for resale and ensures proper payment of invoices.

Receives refill request from patients by phone and contacts prescriber electronically or by phone for refill authorizations.

Aids Coordinator in the timely receiving and posting of third-party payments and charge accounts; follows up on past due billings and keeps files up to date and in order.

Helps in end of month procedures and reports to be submitted to accounting department.
