Business Controller, Environmental/Food

Reports to CFO/VP of Finance


Department:

Basic Purpose:
What is the overall function of the job?

This role will be responsible for leading the division's budgeting, forecasting, reporting and analysis in Environmental and Food LOBs.

The main responsibility is to provide partner with cross-functional senior management to drive business performance and

improvement.


Key Accountability/Responsibilities:
What specifically is this job expected to accomplish?


Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Manage the division's financial planning and budgeting processes, annual operating plans, and forecasts.
  • Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide insights and recommendations to optimize
performance and achieve financial targets.

  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure alignment between financial goals and operational strategies.

Financial Reporting and Control:


  • Prepare accurate and timely management reports, highlighting key company KPIs, trends, and areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and follow all internal controls, ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
  • Conduct periodic financial reviews to identify areas of risk and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Business Partnership and Decision Support:


  • Act as a trusted advisor to the division's leadership team, providing financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to drive
business growth and profitability.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to evaluate investment opportunities, new business initiatives, and
strategic projects, providing financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis.


Process Improvement and Efficiency:


  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations
within the division.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation tools to enhance financial reporting,
analysis, and forecasting capabilities.

  • Develop and implement standardized financial policies, procedures, and guidelines across the division.

Team Leadership and Development:


  • Lead a team of finance professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Identify training and development needs and provide opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.

Skills and Knowledge:
What skills and knowledge are used to carry out job responsibilities and solve problems?

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, CPA designated; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller (+5 years), Divisional Controller, or similar role in a large organization.
  • Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of financial planning, analysis, reporting, and control.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights and
recommendations.

  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non
- financial stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on driving results and developing talent.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; experience with data visualization tools is a plus.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
