About the role


We are looking for a Pipefitter/Steamfitter to lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain, repair and service equipment and piping systems in various systems such as heating, cooling, lubricating and process piping systems.

Reporting to the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be:

  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards
  • actively participating, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our "Zero harm" safety culture
  • Performing equipment repairs within planned time frames
  • Providing sufficient detail about repairs so that others can understand what work has been done on the equipment
  • Contributing to safety and productivity by constructively participating in safety meetings and incident investigations
  • Conducting equipment reviews to ensure new and existing equipment meet site safety standards and operational requirements
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and codes to determine layout, type and size of pipe, and tools to use.
  • Measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, bending, soldering, brazing, assembling, and installing metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings
  • Checking systems for leaks
  • Performing general maintenance work including replacement of worn components
  • Performing Class A Gasfitter duties such as installs, tests, maintenance and repairs propane and/or natural gas lines, appliances, equipment and accessories

What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Pipefitter/Steamfitter qualification


  • Gasfitter

  • Class A qualification
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of a valid Class 5 or 7 driver's license
  • Work cooperatively in a small team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability, along with good communication
  • Basic rigging and slinging experience.
