- $22-$24 per hour, depending on experience and education.
- Aids in the performance of all powder coating procedures, including paint prep, sanding, chemical dipping, and hanging pieces.
- Aids in receiving pieces to be coated as well as packaging and shipping coated pieces.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the shop floor.
- Completes minor maintenance and repair work.
- Cleans and maintain shop facilities and equipment.
- Performs other related work as required and assigned.
- 1-2 years' experience as a shop or general laborer preferred, but not necessary.
- Possesses a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.

SCS Manufacturing, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time Shop Assistant to join our team of hard-working, dedicated staff at our production facility in South Nanaimo, BC.
Our ideal candidate has at least two years of experience and isn't afraid of a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment. We manufacture everything from small parts to steel gravel boxes, so speed, accuracy, and attention to detail are desired traits.

Summary
The Shop Assistant will be responsible for supporting the shop staff in the powder coating process. They will use various hand tools, machinery and equipment required throughout the process.
We're looking for someone who has a bit of prior experience in a similar role or shop environment, plus the ability to work independently. Solid interpersonal skills, a positive demeanor, and a decent sense of humor are key for success in this role.
