Production Shift Supervisor
Position Summary
The Production Shift Supervisor is accountable for all aspects of production across the bakery, providing direction and leadership to Production Team Leaders and Team Members.
The Production Shift Supervisor must balance and deliver requirements for Safety, Quality, Customer Delivery, Cost, Productivity & Continuous Improvement, and Morale.
This position directly reports to the Plant Manager.Responsibilities
Safety, Health and Environment
- Set a strong tone for compliance and drive accountability with company policies, procedures, and operational standards by setting clear expectations and communicating rationale for changes to teams.
- Drive a culture of zero tolerance with Safety
- LOTO and other life saving procedures;
Quality / Food Safety
- Work with Sanitation and Quality to ensure the right resources and procedures are in place to meet GMP and HACCP requirements.
- Audit and ensure online quality check completion.
- Partner with Quality to identify key product hold drivers and identify solutions to reduce it.
Production / Delivery
- Work with logistics to optimize the shortterm production plan to meet the demand and minimize operational cost.
- Ensure the required equipment, materials, supplies and manpower are available; Maintain labour standards.
- Provide leadership necessary to ensure both the department and facility meet or exceed targets.
- Investigate and problem solve causes of waste and downtime.
Cost
- Provide input to annual production budget and track results to ensure actions are taken to achieve targets.
- Lead optimization of production equipment and processes needed to meet and exceed downtime and waste targets.
Productivity
- Drive a continuous improvement culture by leading larger scope process improvements to achieve specific measurable goals. Use information tools to look for opportunities to improve line efficiency, trends, and drive bakery priorities.
- Conduct detailed root cause investigations for large deviations from target.
- Lead operational deliverables within the planning, assessment, installation and testing of new equipment, methods and/or products.
- Provide assistance in troubleshooting of unplanned breakdowns. Partner with maintenance to prioritize and resource continuous reduction of overall plant downtime.
People / Morale
- Establish and sustain a positive and cooperative employee environment through effective communications across work teams/shifts and other functional areas.
- Ensure consistency across shift teams in effective, timely and fair performance and disciplinary feedback and documentation.
ABOUT YOU:
- Minimum 3 years management/supervisory experience in a food production facility;
- Lean six sigma blackbelt preferred.
- Conduct work with integrity, abiding and upholding the Code of Conduct and Company Core Values.
- Ability to anticipate what needs to be done & commits to take ownership to ensure it gets done.
