The Manager of Professional Practice (MPP), a member of the UHN Collaborative Academic Practice (CAP) portfolio, under the direction of the Director of Professional Practice (DPP) for the Acute Care Programs Medicine Portfolio and Fellowships and Director of Practice Based Education (DPBE).

The MPP supports the CAP Innovation Fellowship Program focused on seeking and sustaining opportunities to advance innovative models of care, leadership, quality, healthy work environments, and safety.

The MPP is also accountable for managing innovative organization-wide educational programs including clinical education and orientation.

The MPP supports in the development of models of care initiatives, incorporation of novel healthcare roles, integration of technology to educational and professional development activities.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead the CAP Innovation Fellowship program, including program planning, facilitation of seminars, mentoring fellows, stakeholder engagement, foundation relations, evaluations, reporting and financial management
  • Colead Corporate Clinical Orientation program; Personal support worker and Internationally education Nurses initiatives including program planning, facilitation, mentoring, stakeholder engagement, foundation relations, evaluations, reporting and financial management
  • Complete program evaluations, share findings and provide recommendations
  • Coordinate TAHSN Hospitals leaders and fellows partnering in the Fellowship Program
  • Manage all aspects of assigned and emerging projects, including developing, planning, scheduling, prioritizing, monitoring, evaluating, and completing project activities
  • Collaborate with other members of the patient experience and collaborative academic practice (PE-CAP) team, as well as interprofessional practice leads and stakeholders
  • Identify, implement, and manage innovative approaches to support PE-CAP and UHN strategic priorities
  • Contribute to the achievement of annual deliverables within the PE-CAP operational plan
  • Handle unusually complex problems and provide innovative and creative solutions that will achieve quality and work process improvements
  • Present, publish, and share knowledge to internal and external audiences as required
  • Contribute to programs involving staff development and performance evaluation
  • Crossfunctional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Qualifications

  • Completion of Master's Degree within a regulated health profession
  • Current registration with a regulatory health profession College
  • Cross appointment with a UHN affiliated College or University preferred
  • A minimum of 6 8 years of practical and related experience
  • A minimum of five years demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong education experience with ability to create and deliver curriculum
  • Project Management experience preferred
  • Experience in webbased design and management an asset
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), standards of professional practice and codes of ethics, health care consent and ethical implications of care delivery as well as evolving scopes of practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of the health care system provincially, nationally and internationally as well as related issues and trends, policies and legislation
  • Experience in developing, implementing and maintaining professional practice standards and quality control measures in a health care environment required
  • Extensive experience in quality improvement methodology, innovative practice change leadership and motivational skills
