POSITION description


Shop technician assembling and maintaining (inspections, overhauls, and testing) of small mechanical assemblies such as cargo hooks, swivels, etc., underslung cargo equipment (cargo nets, synthetic and wire-rope longlines, etc.), larger assemblies such as carbon fibre composite items, and metal fabricated items.


Working in-conjunction with our technical têxtiles sewing shop team to conduct in process and final inspections, packaging and readying for shipment various life-support items (life safety harnesses, other personnel carrying devices, etc.), and assist in performing maintenance on our production shop equipment.


Assist and provide impute to company management and other team members in developing a structure for lean manufacturing, and improvement of our current manufacturing documentation process management system.


Duties:


  • Read and interpret schematics, diagrams, drawings, and work instructions to understand equipment specifications.
  • Maintain, inspect, repair and overhaul of helicopter utility gear, human external cargo (HEC) and other lifesupport products.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Document work carried out in accordance with company quality control system.
  • Maintain and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  • Assemble and fabricate products mechanical products according to specifications and work instructions.
  • Final assembly and release of items such as longlines, cargo nets, lanyards, etc.
  • Carryout static load or other functional testing as per test plans or workorder instructions.
  • Assist in preparing production assembly instructions.
  • Assembly of prototype products.
  • Operate power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently.
  • Utilize AutoCAD software or equivalent for design and modification purposes.
  • Carryout or assist in 3D scanning, equipment installations, other work tasks in the field while away from our production facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with machinery or equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify solutions and improve processes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, general shop organization, and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Assist in shipping, receiving and stores management.

Position Requirements:


  • Strong computer skills with ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software, e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience as a Shop Technician or similar role.
  • Eager to learn new skills.

Education and Credentials:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or vocational training preferred from a recognized mechanical engineering/technology program, aerospace technology program or similar field.

Experience and Abilities:


  • Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced with measurement tools and recording of output.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
  • Proficient in reading schematics, diagrams, and drawings.
  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments accurately.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.

Other Abilities and Qualifications Nice to Have:

  • Familiar with synthetic rope products and experience with cordage assembly (splicing terminations, etc.).
  • Experience with "design for manufacturing and assembly" (DFMA) principals.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or SolidWorks or similar design tools is preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe products (i.e. Indesign, Rhino, etc.)

Additional Details:


  • Work is primarily conducted in a climatecontrolled work environment with mínimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work is primarily carried out at our production facility or perhaps at a subcontractor/vendor facility.
  • You will regularly be required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from the floor or a shelf (bending & reaching), and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Occasional work and field travel (Both domestic and International) may be required i.e., vendors, customers, tradeshows, testing facilities, etc.
  • Qualifies for Nexus preclearance for travel to USA.
  • Meets security requirements of certain clients.

Salary:
$23.50-$36.00 per hour
