Position Summary:

We are building a new kind of healthcare for one of the largest growing hospitals in Ontario leveraging a newly implemented health information system.

This is a great opportunity for you to use your indepth knowledge of OHRS reporting standards to make recommendations that ensure the highest level of data quality that will impact the operations & sustainability of clinical programs or the organization.

The OHRS Advisor is responsible for government reporting of the quarterly and year end Trial Balance Submission.

The OHRS advisor will also manage/lead/coordinate other projects including but not limited to maintaining General Ledger tables to support Ambulatory reporting and corporate ad hoc reports as requested.

Provide support and guidance, and promote collaboration and teamwork.

In this role you will be reporting to the Manager of Case Costing and External Reporting and will be responsible for:

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage the statistical General Ledger including responsibilities of activity data quality ensuring integrity of the statistical data and compliance to the OHRS/MIS Standards.
  • In charge of submitting the Daily Bed Census (DBC) and other mandated MOH stats submissions.
  • Responsible for the public reporting indicators to the MOH like the Hand Hygiene.
  • Develop process to support critical MOH submissions including Daily Bed Census reporting, Trial Balance etc.
  • Responsible in the development of statistical reporting dealing with ad hoc requests on activity analysis, trending and benchmarking etc. for both internal and external clients.
  • Interpret and assist with the implementation of changes to reporting requirements issued by Ministry of Health as it relates to mandated stats.
  • Provide business advise, guidance and education to various teams regarding the reporting of statistical information.
  • Monthly variance analysis and interpretation of financial and statistical results and their relation to volumes and funding.
  • Management of financial and statistical data to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Implement reporting tools to enhance and support data accuracy on a timely basis.
  • Ongoing Review of the departmental implementation within the statistical reporting system and develop plans to bring in new department activity reporting data.
  • Identify potential financial risks and opportunities on the operations and provide recommendations to mitigate any negative financial impact.
  • Prepare and analyze financial and statistical information to internal or external decision makers.
  • Ability to manage high volume data and decipher them into relevant information for internal or external clients.
  • Ability to identify key issues and provide recommendations to different levels of management.

Key Qualifications:
  • University/College Degree or equivalent working experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a complex healthcare environment with exposure to a range of reporting.
  • MIS/OHRS Certification preferred. EPIC system experience also a preference.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to identify trends and provide business recommendations.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills both oral and written.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with ability to multitask, adapt to shifting priorities and meet conflicting deadlines in tight turnaround timelines.
  • Critical thinking skills and willingness to challenge status quo.
  • Ability to work accurately under time constrains a requirement.
