Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Administrator (Summer Student)_


Reporting to:
VP, EHS


Division:
Environment Health and Safety

***An EHS Administrator (Summer Student) is responsible for assisting with various administrative tasks within the EHS department.


RESPONSIBILITIES

EHS Program

  • Reads, understands, and follows the QM EHS program
  • Reviewing, formatting and organizing EHS documentation and records as required.
  • Data entry for EHS platforms such as Site Docs and our Learning Management System
  • File management and archival for team SharePoint site
  • Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of current EHS programs.
  • Assisting EHS Coordinators & Regional Managers, Project Managers and Site Supervisors in finalization of project EHS documentations such as HASP, Project Risk Assessments and JSAs
  • Job Safety Analysis, and SWPs
  • Safe Work Practices.
  • Registering employees for preaccess Drug & Alcohol testing as required
  • Support the EHS Program Manager with supplying EHS information for bids and proposals.
  • Track and drive status of incident reports to close out in coordination with Regional EHS Managers

Job-Sites

  • May visit jobsites in coordination with VP, EHS, Regional Manager, EHS Coordinator for exposure and experience of onsite EHS management.

Training & Awareness

  • Assisting with administrative tasks associated with the implementation of new Learning Management System (training to be provided)
  • Uploading certificates of training to LMS and Site Docs
  • Converting presentations into online learning modules with quizzes in new LMS.
  • Coordinates, scheduling and tracking of EHS tasks for employee Onboarding, Status Changes and Offboarding
  • Coordinating and scheduling internal and external training as requested by Project Managers and Site Supervisors.

Other

  • Other responsibilities as required to assist the EHS team
  • Analyzing data and preparing reports as required
  • This position may evolve into an EHS Coordinator role, depending on the skills and training of the incumbent.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Postsecondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Occupational Certification

  • Progress toward certifications in Occupational Health and Safety an asset
  • Valid driver's license with clean driver's abstract is an asset

Experience

  • Previous experience in an administrative role is an asset

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety related legislation, provincial, federal is an asset

Abilities

  • Must be organized, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent team player, cooperative approach at all levels, strong relationship building capabilities and ability to treat peers at all levels with respect.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good group presentation skills (i.e. orientation training, group instruction, orientations and HSE seminars), is an asset
  • Motivated and driven selfstarter able to work with mínimal supervision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an office-based role with the opportunity to visit projects sites for experience.
