Working for the Department/Faculty


The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta is one of the largest nursing faculties in the country, and unique as the only Canadian member of the National Hartford Centers for Gerontological Nursing Excellence.

We have more doctorally-prepared faculty members than any other school in the west.

As a pioneer in Canadian nursing education, we implemented the first Master of Nursing program in Western Canada in 1975, and began the first fully-funded Nursing PhD program in Canada in 1991.


Position

Duties

  • Assists with academic research
  • Meets regularly with the supervisor to discuss research assignments
- supervising research assistants and trainees

  • Manages and replies to projectrelated correspondence
  • Coordinates with partner organization and team members
  • Assists in participants' recruitment
  • Leads quantitative data collection
  • Facilitates focus group discussion
  • Performs data analysis (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Writes manuscripts
  • Prepares reports, manuscripts and presentations
  • Works in cooperation with other members of the research team
  • Carries out any other related duties if essential to the research activities of the supervisor or project to which the graduate assistant is assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's degree required in a Health Sciences discipline
  • Skill and experience with qualitative analysis, preferred
  • Demonstrate superior communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent in taking initiatives and ability to work with limited supervision
