YOUR ROLE


As the Manager, Financial Reporting (FR Manager), you will be responsible for the accounting activities related to Financial Reporting Team.

These duties include planning and coordinating the accounting operational functions for some GH FoC companies, and support Director of Financial Reporting.

You will coordinate and assist with annual audit files preparation, assist with preparation of consolidated financial statements, overlooking Deferred Income taxes workbook preparation for GH FoC.


WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Within first 30 days:_
  • Learn the main accounting functions of all operating companies within the GroupHEALTH Family of Companies
  • Develop a strong understanding of the Financial Reporting team accounting functions.
  • Complete the BS reconciliations reviews of some entities within GH FoC and get familiar with all BS accounts and types of transactions.
  • Gain understanding with different types of Month end journal entries.
  • Complete the first of 4 CEBS E-Learning Modules to become more familiar with the Group Benefits industry.
  • Within first 60 days:_
  • Learn the accounting functions and reporting requirements for different entities.
  • Training on quarterly reporting and reforecasting
  • Annual budgeting
  • Annual audit files preparation
  • Complete the second of 4 CEBS E-Learning Modules
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and financial statements preparation
  • Within first 90 days:_
  • Manage and implement process improvement initiatives with regard to daytoday accounting functions and activities.
  • Complete a formal review of federal and provincial sales tax to ensure compliance across all functions and companies.
  • Complete Finance Team quarterly objectives reviews within a month following quarter end.
  • Complete the third of 4 CEBS E-Learning Modules.

YOUR IMPACT

  • People Management_
  • Manage and lead financial reporting team.
  • Hire, mentor, train and retain competent Finance staff.
  • Perform quarterly objectives reviews and annual performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Gain full understanding of the roles for the direct reports, provide training and support where needed.
  • Financial Reporting and accounting_
  • Assisting with preparation of consolidated financial statements
  • Completion of Consolidated CBIG Financial Statements
  • Complete training on Consolidation Workbook and quarterly Consolidation entries
  • Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting/finance daytoday operational functions.
  • Assess current accounting operations, offer recommendations for improvement, and implement new processes (e.g. automation processes, IT projects)
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations including GST/HST, PST, and income tax compliance.
  • Hire, train and retain competent Finance staff.
  • Conduct BS reconciliation reviews on a monthly basis
  • Other duties as requested by Director of Financial Reporting

THIS IS YOU

  • Completion of a degree or diploma in accounting
  • Professional accounting designation (Canadian CPA designation) with at least 5 years of experience in public practice or industry


  • MS Excel

  • Advanced level
  • Experience with Month end closing
  • 3+ years people management experience

THIS IS NICE

  • Experience with Sage is an asset.
  • Experience with Group Benefits is an asset.

YOUR COMPENSATION
At the time of this posting, the estimated pay range for this position is $95,000-$105,000. Individual compensation within this range is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, and education/training.

This range reflects the base pay and does not encompass our comprehensive total rewards, benefits, and potential bonuses that we proudly offer.
