Position Scope

As a vital member of the Operations Team, the
Supervisor, Plant Operations is responsible for safe and responsible operation of the Carbon Engineering Innovation Centre and all associated activities occurring during their shift.

They will direct, manage, guide and mentor their team, instilling a culture of Operational Excellence and a high degree of professionalism.

They will collaborate with Maintenance, Engineering, Planners, Controls Engineering, and the Production Manager to ensure plant activities are executed safely, timely and according to plan.

This position follows Carbon Engineering Operations 4-on, 4-off shift schedule, alternating two rotations of days and then two of nights.

Health Safety and Environment

  • Champion a positive safety culture within the Operations team.
  • Be familiar with, and ensure adherence to core HSE policies including, but not limited to:
  • Permit to work;
  • Lockout tagout;
  • Contractor work;
  • Line break;
  • Hot work;
  • Confined space entry;
  • Working at height;
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain the plant in a safe condition in line with all applicable regulations.
  • Identify, report and resolve unsafe conditions, processes or actions within the workplace.
  • Ensure that all safety related incidents, accidents and near misses are reported and investigated in line with company policy.
  • Be familiar with the Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and associated responsibilities within the plan.
  • Ensure that periodic safety inspections, daily rounds and other safety related requirements are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Complete training curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate the shift team meeting at the beginning of every shift and ensure all components of the Shift Team Meeting template are completed.
  • Understand, clearly communicate, and lead their shift team through the successful execution of current test campaigns and provide regular feedback on campaign progress.
  • Ensure appropriate action is taken and mitigations are in place during abnormal operations to return process conditions to within spec and on target.
  • Approve or seek the appropriate approvals as required for interlocks, overrides and bypasses and engage with their team to ensure mitigations are robust and are in place.
  • Maintain strong communications, collaborative and effective relationships between the Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams so all remain informed of any changes that affect operations, test campaigns, preventive, and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure the Daily Shift Logs, Daily Production Reports, and Weekly Reports are complete, and accurately represent the occurrences for the appropriate timelines.
  • Prepare for and lead the Operations section of the Daily Morning Meeting and Daily Coordination Meetings.
  • Promote and verify accuracy and timeliness of all communications and reports generated by their shift team and sign off/approve where necessary (i.e. SOP, morning reports, chemical inventory sheets, sampling schedule etc.).
  • Support the Operations Planner to identify production project scopes and provide proper instruction, tools, parts, and hazard controls for the job to facilitate safe, efficient, and valueadded work.
