Position Information:


Rotation/Shifts:

Days, 8 hour shifts.


Basic Requirements:

4-year undergraduate degree in translation (English to French), or an equivalent combination of experience and education;

  • Minimum 5 years of translation experience, English to Canadian French;
  • Minimum 5 years of revision experience (English to Canadian French), including the ability to find and identify different categories of translation errors;
  • Proofreading experience of both printed and online content;
  • Experience working with computeraided translation tools (e.g. LogiTerm, Multitrans);
  • Ability and willingness to learn and master an inhouse translation request management system;
  • Experience performing terminology research and producing terminology records;
  • Excellent knowledge of French syntax, grammar and spelling;
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word and Excel, with some knowledge of PowerPoint and Access;
  • Ability to produce accurate and clear translations without requiring any revision;
  • Ability to produce and revise translations in plain language, as required;
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the cultural aspects of translation;
  • Ability to demonstrate awareness of the unique linguistic particularities of the Franco-Ontarian community
  • Ability and willingness to consult with a document's originator to ensure proper understanding and accurate translation;
  • Ability to provide linguistic advice and recommendations;
  • Ability to pay attention to detail;
  • Willingness and ability to understand clients' needs and expectations to provide excellent service;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external contacts;
  • Ability to appreciate the sensitive and confidential nature of certain documents;
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently;
  • Ability to meet expected productivity targets;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and work under tight deadlines;
  • Ability to continually develop professional skills and commitment to continuing education;
  • Eligible to work in Canada;
  • Proficiency in English and French oral expression (superior level) and comprehension (superior level).
Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French
- and English-speaking clientS.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certified member of ATIO or OTTIAQ;
  • Experience translating and revising (English to French) Ontarian healthcare related content;
  • Experience translating and revising (English to French) communications, marketing and branding content;
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting computeraided translation tools (especially Multitrans);
  • Experience in healthcare and other relevant areas (e.g., employee relations, administration);
  • Familiarity with hospital operations and the healthcare system in Ontario.
