Position Summary:


The Crew Planning Specialist will be responsible to ensure crew monthly schedules are constructed with effective and efficient pairings based on the operational requirements within our Commercial and Cargo departments for each crew base/type.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the preparation of the crew monthly schedules for the Pilots and Flight Attendants, including the commercial flying / pairings, charter flying / pairings, crew initial and recurrent training, annual vacation and statutory holidays, employee leaves, line indoc, etc.
  • Audit and identify crew conflicts within the monthly schedules from the ASR
  • Distribute accurate monthly schedules to the Pilots and Flight Attendants
  • Work with the Flight Operations Training Department to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to manpower planning issues and develop strategies to optimize crew staffing
  • Coordinate with senior management in the evaluation of operational and financial implications of strategic changes including, but not limited to, flying schedule, labor contract provisions, regulatory provisions, and software
  • Complete adhoc projects and analyses as assigned
  • Arrange all crew member deadhead and flights for travel as required for daily operations, training, and Charters, including booking hotels and the blocking of rooms at the company crew houses, rental cars
  • Interpret and administer Crew related Collective Agreements
  • Coordinate all new hire pilot and flight attendant training, line indoctrination and line releases
  • Create and distribute all training packages
  • Coordinate with management in the preparation, audit, and distribute the Pilot Vacation Packages
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in field considered an asset
  • Demonstrates excellent work ethic and customerservice relations with staff while using diplomacy and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong organization and time management skills to manage deadlinedriven work and to accommodate special projects on an as needed basis
  • Ability to maintain periods of intense concentration within an active face paced environment
  • Must be very exact with figures and calculations, and be proficient with a computer
  • Ability to use a variety of software including MS Word, MS Excel, Google Sheets, Outlook, and other webbased software
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and written
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision and in a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Previous experience in aviation considered an asset
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an enhanced security clearance
  • Inuktitut language considered an asset
  • Preference will be given to Inuit Land Claims Beneficiaries
