Reporting to the Director of Communications ("Supervisor"), the Corporate Communications and Marketing Advisor supports CAGBC's mission by providing senior-level expertise that contributing to corporate communications strategies and products that deepen member and stakeholder relationships, drive brand awareness, and fuel green building in Canada.


Key Responsibilities

Content Development

  • Support CAGBC's departmental goals by creating timely and relevant communications that elevate CAGBC brand story with members and stakeholders while elevating demand for and appreciation of green buildings.
  • Review CAGBC communications products across all communication platforms/channels, ensuring quality control and effective alignment with brand guidelines and strategic direction.
  • Oversee the editorial and other content calendars to support workflows and ensure content is delivered and published in a timely manner.
  • Manage translation providers to ensure consistent communications in French and English

Reporting & Insights

  • Manage the analytical tools and processes required to measure communication activities' impact and effectiveness, supporting internal departmental goals as well as pulling the KPIs required by the Board.
  • Provide quarterly updates on key metrics as defined by your manager.
  • Leverage the data provided to uncover insights that will help shape the direction of communications strategies.

Media Relations

  • Support external media relations and speaking opportunities by fielding media requests, coordinating content needs, and supporting the preparation of spokespeople.
  • Identify opportunities for CAGBC by monitoring news trends and industry issues. Work with Supervisor to identify ways CAGBC can create impact by pitching story angles, contributing to articles, or creating submissions such as bylines, op eds or letters to the editor.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with key trade and mainstream media, develop proactive pitches to support CAGBC's brand and programs and help mentor the team to grow capabilities.

Project Management

  • Be a productive member of crossfunctional teams, providing support for communications deliverables and participating in communications planning.
  • Serve as primary point of contact and administrator for core workflow requests and status updates on CCM deliverables.
  • Provide regular updates on progress towards project deliverables through regular and timely project reviews; identify challenges and decision points and make recommendations to Supervisor and project partners to ensure progress.
  • Manage, assign, and track project tasks and deliverables to ensure all internal and external communications reporting requirements are met on time.
  • Coordinate with graphic designer(s) and external vendors to ensure deliverables are on time and meet expectations.
  • Support and participate in the planning and execution of industry engagement activities related to green building.
  • Champion effective processes and quality standards for all outputs in support of corporate communications strategies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • You find project management and organization as easy as breathing, and consistently deliver with a high level of execution and performance.
  • You're a skilled writer and have a proven track record of creating compelling, influencial content.
  • You are excellent at balancing priorities and collaborating as part of a small, busy team of professionals and are ready to be the right hand to the Director of CCM.
  • Fit is everything, so you have strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgement while building rapport across different work styles.
