Manager, Inclusive Support and Staff Development
In this newly created role, you will be facilitating and training direct support staff to ensure full
participation of people of varying abilities in the community
activities of their choice. You are a
compassionate, empathetic and detail-oriented person who possesses strong listening and oral
communication skills to be successful in this role. You are passionate and patient in your support of
others and a team player. You may be working with one individual or a group; all who need support to
feel included. This will involve assisting with the development, planning and implementation of inclusive
activities for the individuals that Aspire supports. You will ensure inclusion of individuals into programs
and community by using assistive technology and resolving accessibility issues. Each day you will make a
difference in the lives of individuals and will be contributing to improving the quality of life for individuals
and their families.


Your Impact

  • Enhance staff skills in support strategies by providing leadership, coaching, training, and "real
time" mentorship in inclusion and positive behaviour support.

  • Work collaboratively with program managers to address any staff concerns.
  • Work alongside staff and the individual, to determine the reason for distressed behaviour.
  • Work with program managers to identify individuals who need support and develop personalized
- strategies that are aligned with the person's goals.
  • Participate in consultation and collaboration with the program manager, various program
leadership teams and other relevant stakeholders, in the development and coordination of
support and training programs to assist in providing high. quality support to the individuals.

  • The role actively participates in Society training development and oversight.
  • Assists in the collection and interpretation of data, oversight and assessment of skill acquisition
programs.


Experience

  • A degree in a related field, as well as 35 years previous experience providing direct support to
persons with developmental disabilities. An equivalent combination of education and experience
will be considered.

  • Background in the development and implementation of support strategies is required.
  • Experience working in consultation with an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with
families/caregivers and providing direct coaching to support staff is required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to train, teach and transfer support skills to staff teams.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in working with diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal skills.
  • Strong organization, time, and general management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to maintain strong personal boundaries and be respectful of different family values and
beliefs.
