    DIRECTOR OF HEALTH FACILITY PLANNING

    DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

    OPEN COMPETITION

    FREDERICTON

    The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Corporate Services Division as the Director of Health Facility Planning in Fredericton.

    As the Director of Health Facility Planning, you will :

    • Oversee the planning and design of additions and renovations to New Brunswick health establishments;
    • Oversee infrastructure upgrading projects;
    • Provide advice to the Department's senior management on all matters affecting the planning and delivery of Capital construction projects;
    • Oversee exposure and risks on all projects and implement mitigation strategies;
    • Prepare annual Capital Budget submission;
    • Prepare submissions to Treasury Board for all major Capital construction projects;
    • Establish priorities for Capital Infrastructure upgrading requests;
    • Establish preliminary scope, budget and schedule on all Capital projects;
    • Draft briefing notes and recommendations for all project proposals;
    • Verify project conformance with established planning and design guidelines;
    • Coordinate project planning and delivery activities by providing effective liaison between the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and Regional Health Authorities;
    • Perform various other related duties as required.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • University degree in a related field;
    • A minimum of eight (8) years of related experience;
    • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered (ex: 2 year Engineering Technology program and ten (10) years of related experience);
    • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

    In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

    Asset Qualifications: Preference may be given to candidates that possess one or more of the following asset qualifications:

    • Planning and design of health care facilities
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate

    Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

    Operational Requirements: The following operational requirements are also required:

    • Travel within the province
    • Extended work hours may be required on occasion

    Salary: $86,970 to $105,222 per annum (Pay Band 7)
