Description

To support the Quality/Plant Team in ensuring products meet the quality standards and food safety requirements of the Company and its customers.

To proactively coordinate the fundamentals of GMP, HACCP and audit programs. Provide sound leadership and support to the plant employees.

Assist with the implementation, monitoring and follow-up of quality assurance strategies and programs in all aspects of the production process.


Job Functions/Responsibilities:


  • Assist in food safety (CFIA, 3rd Party and customer) audits and mock recalls.
  • Work closely with QA Manager and plant management on special projects, e.g. continuous improvement safety, product quality, etc.
  • Daily monitoring and verification of quality assurance processes and procedures in the facility.
  • Assist with investigations, consumer/customer complaints
  • Follow up with other departments on nonconformances, corrective and preventive actions, and validation activities to ensure completion in a timely manner
  • Collect samples and assists with completion of Microbiology and Chemistry tasks.
  • Perform general lab procedures and other designated QA task, as needed.
  • Maintain and update daily QA and plant reports.
  • Ensure accuracy and correctness of data
  • Perform other duties assigned or required by QA/QC Manager.

Note:
We are a poultry primary processor, you would be inspecting both live and processed poultry.


Routine QA Duties:


  • Perform daily operational checks.
  • Verification of preoperational checks, chemical concentration checks and conduct daily GMP audits.
  • Perform CCP verifications e.g. temperature checks, final product quality/food safety checks.
  • Perform Thermometer Calibration, Light Intensity Checks, Monthly Glass/Brittle Plastic Monitoring.
  • Daily GMP Audits.
  • Perform finished product quality checks and collecting retention samples
  • Perform incoming product quality checks on live animals.
  • Perform sampling of finished products for micro analysis.
  • Perform evisceration, animal welfare, and other poultry inspection tasks.
  • Managing inventories for lab supplies.
  • Filling, organizing and achieving the documents.

Qualifications:


  • 1 year in Quality Assurance/ Quality Control activities within a food processing industry an asset.
  • Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook, etc).
  • Basic knowledge in CFIA FSEP Manual and HACCP System preferred.
  • Experience in a food processing facility is an asset.
  • Applicants must hold a valid Canadian work permit.
  • Must be able to start at 5am and shifts can run for 8 to 12 hours each.
  • Individual must be able to start within 2 weeks but immediately would be an asset.




NOTE:

CURRENTLY WORKING HOURS ARE NOT STEADY, SOME WEEKS THERE MAY BE ONLY 3 DAYS WORK AND OTHERS 5 DAYS WORK WITH OVERTIME.
