Job DescriptionMcMaster University, in conjunction with Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a full-time academic Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon. The Ontario West Region Orthopedic Surgery Program serves a catchment area of more than 2.5 million residents. The service provides tertiary and quaternary level care to patients within the catchment area and plays an important role in the provision of Trauma services. The Orthopedic Surgery Division within the Department of Surgery, McMaster University is a fully accredited Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada training program in Orthopedic Surgery with full involvement in undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education programs.

The successful applicant's clinical skill set must include the full spectrum of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery trauma care, with sub-specialty fellowship training in pediatric orthopedic surgery and pediatric upper extremity surgery. The successful applicant will be expected to show evidence of interpersonal and collaborative skills and initiative to further advance the clinical and academic productivity of the Orthopedic Surgery Division. A commitment to surgical education and research at all levels is essential, as well as active participation in the academic initiatives of the Orthopedic Surgery Division and the Department of Surgery. The ability to contribute to the research mandate of the Division is important. Candidates with either a Master's degree in research methodology, or a strong interest in obtaining additional training in this field are preferred. A full-time appointment at the appropriate level in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, McMaster University is required and will be available to the successful applicant.
Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. Applicants must have a Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery, Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent, and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario.
