  • Ensure the firm's prevention programs are implemented and improved.
  • Serve as an advisor to employees and managers in managing occupational health and safety.
  • Develop and share recommendations to ensure efficient and preventive operations.
  • Provide leadership to the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Guide the design and delivery of health and safety training.
  • Perform occupational health and safety analyses.
  • Help draft reports for the OHS Management Committee and OHS management.
  • Ensure quality service to internal clients and help meet health and safety requirements for requests for proposals (qualifications, proposals, competencies, etc.).
  • Coordinate the drafting and delivery of health and safety information and communications.
  • Serve as a reference for laws and regulations.
  • Carry out corporate audits.
  • Coordinate internal projects independently.
  • Collaborate on ad hoc projects with various stakeholders.
  • Carry out complex incident investigations.
  • Occasionally support client projects.
  • Manage the support environment process, such as incidents, risk management.
  • Develop and provide health and safety training.

Profile and essential skills

  • Relevant bachelor's degree, college diploma or university certificate, combined with proven experience
  • Eight years of relevant health and safety experience in heavy industry, ideally in the mining, energy or oil sectors
  • Indepth knowledge of best practices in health and safety
  • Indepth knowledge of management systems
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations
  • Available to work occasionally at client sites, based on the firm's needs
  • Ability to perform health and safety audits at BBA offices and at client sites where our employees work
  • High degree of autonomy and a continuous improvement approach
  • Available to travel periodically to our offices and client sites, as required by the organization
  • Training and experience with complex investigations
  • Ability to provide inhouse health and safety training
  • Knowledge of behavioural safety
  • Knowledge of critical hazards, such as energy, heights, chemicals, lifting, vehicles and confined spaces
