    Job Summary

    Responsible as the Electrical Engineer of small to larger sized projects working independently and/or participates in a support role. Assists in the coordination of electrical engineering discipline functions.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for all electrical aspects of developing studies for small to larger sized projects.
    • Responsible electrical engineer, requiring communications with client PM, as well as internal PM.
    • Coordinate with the PM for initiation of performing complex engineering tasks including detailed calculations as required by the project.
    • Responsible for the supporting the project manager in the development of the project design basis memorandum and execution plan, budgets, and schedules for small to medium sized projects.
    • Preparing basic electrical design documents required by client for the performance of detailed engineering.
    • Preparing and maintaining the electrical engineering control documents developed from the master project schedule.
    • Preparing electrical engineering specifications for the project (i.e., equipment) with assistance from other project and design engineers.
    • Reviewing, check and approve detailed electrical engineering drawings.
    • Engineering quality control to meet stringent company and Client quality standards.
    • Support project manager with project reporting both internal and external (scheduling, cost control, progress reports etc.).
    • Maintain client liaison for assigned projects. This includes both internal and external clients as well as field interface during construction.
    • Manage outside supply of materials and services (i.e., compressor QC through inspectors).
    • General project management/engineering to meet budgeted project cost, schedule, safety, and quality targets.
    • Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies and engineering standards.
    • Assist in manpower planning by reviewing work commitments, work distribution and continuity through regular project review meetings.

    Requirements

    • Require active professional engineer designation
    • Experience Capital Cost Estimating and Engineering Man hour estimating
    • Assist with equipment procurement activities
    • Experience with Bluebeam considered an asset

    Additional Duties - If applicable

    • Will be required to stamp applicable engineering documents.

    Supervision Exercised

    • Assigns and outlines work; advises on technical problems; reviews work for technical accuracy and adequacy. May make recommendations concerning selection, training, appraisal, and discipline of staff.
    • Higher level seniors may outline more difficult problems and method of approach. Coordinates work programs and directs use of equipment and material. Makes recommendations concerning the selection, training, discipline and remuneration of staff on a specific project team.

    Supervision Received

    • Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other units. Work is carried out within defined guidelines; informed guidance is available.
    • Higher level seniors may receive work assigned only in terms of broad objectives to be accomplished and is reviewed for policy, soundness of approach and general effectiveness.

    Decision Making

    • Recommendations reviewed for soundness of judgment but usually accepted as technically accurate and feasible. May be reviewed by the project manager.
    • Higher level seniors make responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review on all matters assigned except those involved large sums of money or long-range objectives. Takes courses of action necessary to expedite the successful accomplishment of assigned projects. May be reviewed by the project manager.

    Quality Control

    • Ensure the product produced meets quality requirements in terms of engineering competence, safety, specifications, and local requirements. May be reviewed by the project manager.
    • Ensure that the end product meets the QC needs of the client. May be reviewed by the project manager.
    • Work directly with the project group to determine quality standards for a project. May be reviewed by the project manager.
    • Ensure adherence to company engineering policies, procedures, and systems for the engineering group.

    Core Competencies

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with all clients, both internal (at all levels of the organization) and external.
    • Competent understanding of company/client procedures and requirements for project cost control.
    • Proven ability to multi-task and efficiently respond to changing priorities.
    • Computer proficiency in Windows, MS Office, and e-mail.
    • Superior organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
    • Decision-making and problem-solving ability.
    • Recognized as a 'specialist' in their discipline.

    Education Qualifications

    • University or Technical institution graduate in Engineering or applied science or its equivalent with a minimum of 8+ years of related working experience OR and equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
