    Summary

    Celestica's Human Resources organization focuses on delivering strategies which support our vision of enabling Celestica's success through its people. This HR Generalist role provides the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to be a strategic partner to our Newmarket Operations manufacturing site. This role is accountable for working collaboratively with the operations business leaders in support of the strategies necessary to acquire, engage, develop and grow the talent necessary to support business growth.

    This role reports directly to the Canadian Operations Human Resources Director while partnering closely with the site operations teams.

    This role will be Full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based onsite in Newmarket, Ontario.

    Detailed Description

  • The Human Resources Generalist is a hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to our Newmarket manufacturing site.
  • The role supports executing our people initiatives, providing great internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence and process improvement.
  • This role will work through our corporate Centers' of Excellence to provide local site feedback on corporate pilot programs and will support corporate roll outs.
  • Provide consultation and support to managers with implementing and carrying out HR policies and practices, employee development, performance management, and other employee relations issues, including performance counseling, discipline and termination, workforce planning, risk management and employment law implications.
  • Work closely with Corporate HR to champion, execute and monitor the effectiveness of corporate programs and initiatives.
  • Supports implementation of HR initiatives at the site and ensures appropriate change management is in place.
  • Contribute to the creation of a workplace that mirrors our core values.
  • Champion the shaping and sustaining of a diverse and inclusive workplace that is engaging, enabling and energizing.
  • Support management and talent acquisition in obtaining and retaining top talent through collaboration of determining staff needs and appropriate compensation.
  • Lead engagement activities at the site. Works with management team to ensure effective performance management and culture building practices are in place.
  • Ensures compliance to corporate policies, governmental regulations and laws. Keeps abreast of legislative decisions, changes in federal, state and local employment laws and regulations to limit legal exposure and liability.

  • In depth understanding of applicable provincial and federal labour laws.
  • Knowledge of world class manufacturing processes and lean and/or Six Sigma strategies.
  • Physical Demands

  • Duties of this position are generally performed in good working conditions.
  • Occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
  • Typical Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' progressive HR generalist experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of systems (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google applications, etc)
  • Ability to negotiate and influence within a collaborative framework
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated initiative to analyze and resolve problems quickly, efficiently and collaboratively
  • Business maturity, diverse experience in others areas of the business recommended
  • Typical Education

  • Bachelor's degree and/or College Diploma in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work history or certifications in Human Resources, Business Administration or relevant field.
  • Attained or working towards CHRP / CHRL Designation.
  • Completion of the certification is considered an asset. Experience with ADP and Success Factors or similar HRIS systems considered an asset.
